HUES OF REVOLUTION:
ART AS RESISTANCE
Art has long stood at the centre of political upheaval, not as decoration to history but as one of its most enduring witnesses. In moments of occupation, war, and decolonisation, creativity becomes a language through which grief, anger, memory, and hope are preserved. From Palestinian murals and ballads to anti colonial paintings in South Asia, art functions both as testimony and defiance, exposing injustice while sustaining collective identity. Yet it also reveals how culture can be used to entrench violence and shape narratives. This piece explores art as a double edged force, one that can inspire solidarity across borders or deepen divisions, and considers how in times of repression creative expression becomes both resistance and record of lived truth.
